Prostatitis – an inflammatory disease of the prostate, or prostate, especially of the male organ, located under the bladder.

This gland is often called the "second heart", as it is responsible for many important functions in the male body.

Prostatitis is one of the most common diseases. In the US, for example, the number of cases of prostatitis is eight percent of all urological diseases.

Why you need a prostate?

The prostate gland performs the following functions:

  • produces a liquid that forms the liquid part of semen
  • converts testosterone to its active form – dihydrotestosterone,
  • together with the muscles of the bladder neck forms internal sphincter that controls urination,
  • involved in creating the sensation of orgasm.

The first signs of prostatitis

Symptoms of prostatitis: frequent and intolerable urge to urinate, burning and pain when urinating, difficulty urinating, feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, pain in the pelvis, groin and lower back.

When the prostatitis?

In one form or another prostatitis is observed in almost half of men after 30 years. But can appear in young people in the 18-20 years.

Factors that provoke the development of prostatitis:

  • chronic hypothermia,
  • the untimely emptying of the bladder,
  • a rhythm of sexual life (long periods of abstinence, irregular),
  • frequent change of sexual partners, unprotected sex,
  • a sedentary lifestyle, causing a disturbance of the blood and lymph circulation in organs of small pelvis,
  • diseases of the genitourinary system,
  • infectious diseases
  • Smoking and alcohol,
  • injuries
  • hormonal disorders,
  • malfunction of the immune system.

Types of prostatitis

Acute bacterial prostatitis is caused by lesions of the prostate tissue pathogens: Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus, Klebsiella, Staphylococcus aureus.

Many of these bacteria representatives of the healthy microflora of human organism, which lives on the skin and in the intestine.

Penetrating into the tissue of the prostate, they, however, can cause inflammation. Often bacteria enter the prostate from the bladder or urethra.

Symptoms:

  • fever and chills,
  • pain in the prostate, groin and lower back,
  • increased frequency of urination, difficulty and pain when urinating, feeling of incomplete emptying of the bladder, blood in the urine,
  • painful ejaculation,
  • decreased libido and quality of erection due to pronounced pain syndrome and intoxication.

If you experience any of these symptoms, immediately consult a doctor. Acute prostatitis requires urgent diagnosis and treatment.

Chronic bacterial prostatitis sometimes as a consequence of acute.

Its appearance can also be triggered by trauma urogenital system, bladder catheterization or infections in other organs.

Symptoms:

  • frequent urination,
  • pain and burning sensation when urinating,
  • pain in the pelvis, perineum,
  • night urination,
  • difficulty urinating,
  • the presence of blood in semen,
  • painful ejaculation,
  • a slight rise in body temperature.

The symptoms of chronic bacterial prostatitis develops gradually and often periods of exacerbation alternate with calm. To defer access to a doctor is impossible: this disease requires qualified treatment.

Chronic abacterial prostatitis can trigger a number of factors:

  • lifting heavy objects with a full bladder (can be urine reflux into the prostate),
  • spasm of the pelvic muscles, leading to increased pressure in the prostate,
  • anatomic abnormalities in the genitourinary system, for example, narrowing of the urinary canal,
  • permanent injury of the prostate.

The symptoms are similar to symptoms of chronic bacterial prostatitis. Differences are detected only in laboratory tests to identify the infection.

Attention!

The symptoms of prostatitis are similar to the signs of dangerous diseases such as cystitis, bladder cancer, benign tumors of the prostate.

So as early as possible to diagnose and effectively treat these diseases, man who is experiencing discomfort associated with urination or functions of the genital organs, should quickly consult a doctor.
